One of the defining moments in Ashluxe’s journey was its collaboration with Lemi Ghariokwu, the renowned artist behind 26 album covers for Fela Anikulapo Kuti. Ghariokwu’s work extended beyond Fela, as he also created covers for other artists such as Osita Osadebe, James Iroha, Bob Marley, Kris Okotie, Lucky Dube, Gilles Peterson, and Miriam Makeba, during his time as a consulting album cover designer for Polygram (Phonogram+Polydor) records in Nigeria for 11 years. This collaboration not only added a new dimension to Ashluxe’s designs but also cemented its reputation as a brand that celebrates creativity and artistic expression.

The collaboration with Lemi Ghariokwu builds upon Ashluxe’s “Kalakuta Republic” collection, inspired by Fela Kuti’s legacy and authorized by his estate. This collection pays homage to the revolutionary spirit of the iconic musician and further cements Ashluxe’s position as a Pan-African brand preserving cultural history.
